MEET OUR TEAM
Blaize Abuntori (he/him)
Founder, Chief Executive Officer
The man behind the burritos! 🌯
This is Blaize @king_b_blaize who started it all. Starting from 4 burritos bought at a restaurant to 500 healthy homemade ones!
When there’s a will, there’s a way! Blaize is attempting to stir 25 lbs of beef and 20 bell peppers in this huge pressure cooker. 😱 Not to mention all that paprika!
Thanks Blaize for starting this awesome project, helping the houseless and your volunteers. ❤
Ronnie Miller (she/her)
Chief Media Officer
Ronnie is a vibrant and crucial member of our team, working as CMO, chief marketing officer.
Ronnie graduated at UNR with a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation 🐝🐆🐾 and is getting her PhD in Entomology at MSU 📚🐝.
She created our instagram page, which has grown exponentially since its inception in July 2020, and has been one of people running the page ever since 📷
Nicola Ader (she/her)
Chief Operations Officer
Our very own track star! 🏃🏽♀️She helps every weekend: rolling, handing out, or making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes. Sometimes she gets left behind giving motivational speeches and spend time with every person. Don’t worry she always catches up!😊
Nicola is from Germany and currently getting her Criminal Justice, Political Science, and International Affairs degree at Nevada while being a track and field athlete! Breaking records and competing at NCAAs are only some of her many accomplishments. 🥇
Francis Talbot (he/him)
Chief Betterment Officer
Frankie graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a dual major in Political Science and International Affairs. He has been volunteering his time with the Reno Burrito Project for the past year. Frankie has been working on assisting the Leadership team with becoming a 501c3 Non-profit organization and is focusing on creating new initiatives to help better assist the differently housed in the Reno/Sparks community. Frankie enjoys football, table-top games, and reading.
Ulyses Dorantes (he/him)
Chief Communications Officer
Uly has been volunteering with RBP since September 2020, cooking beans, rice, rolling burritos, and with Sunday distribution. He has since found ways to improve operations by establishing solid internal communication practices and ways to facilitate long-term growth. On occasion he’ll even step up to do give the motivational speech.
Uly is an MA student and teaching assistant in UNR’s communication department. He is also a scholar-activist who has previously worked with organizations supporting educational equity for undocumented students. Uly is an educator at heart and is working towards becoming a professor of communication. He is a former spoken word artist that enjoys soccer, hip-hop, and heady heartfelt conversations.
Kristina Mason (she/her)
Chief Financial Officer
Kristina has been working with Reno Burrito Project since April of 2020 when we first started making our own burritos. She taught the group how to roll the first burritos. Over the summer of 2020 Kristina was the Chief Operating Officer. Her position mostly included but was not limited to organizing the group’s ideas, managing meeting notes, helping new volunteers, and looking out for ways to improve the project. More recently, Kristina became the Chief Financial Officer. Kristina handles the finances, ensuring that people who buy ingredients to cook or prepare us for the weekend are reimbursed. She also plans on using her new position to encourage growth and expansion by closely observing the RBP budget.
Spencer Banda (he/him)
Chief Procurement Officer
Spence first got involved with RBP in June 2021 and quickly started helping get supplies each Sunday to ensure that we are properly stocked before the day begins. Spence joined the leadership team to further that end as well as to help increase RBP’s responsiveness to the needs and requests of the people we serve. Spence holds degrees in Education and History from UNR and graduated with a minor in Foreign Affairs. He loves working with children and runs the before and after school program at a local elementary school. In his free time, Spence likes to read about history, politics/geopolitics, and linguistics. He also enjoys doing documentary genealogical research to discover family histories.
Hall of Fame
We couldn’t have gotten where we are without these folks,
so they deserve an honorable mention
Stephanie Coronado – Chief Financial Officer (she/they) started our first fundraising campaign so that Blaize wouldn’t have to keep spending his own money. After that, we were able to go from making 50 burritos to over 200 each week. Steph balances the books, runs our Venmo, and does the weekly water and tortilla run. She also started our little book library!
When not helping with RBP, Steph is a PhD student at UNR studying insect ecology.
